01 / What it is

A private cloud you own — the same things you use every day, running on a computer in your home.

logout.cloud does the everyday stuff you'd normally trust to Google, Apple, or Dropbox — backing up your photos, syncing your files, keeping your passwords, streaming your movies — with 19 apps that are already set up to work together.

The difference: it all lives on hardware you own, in your home. Your data never leaves your house unless you send it, and you can walk away anytime.

01

Get your box

We send a ready-made mini PC — or, if you'd rather, a drive for a computer you already have. Plug it into your router.

02

Set up in minutes

A simple guide walks you through your account and devices. The Box sets up in minutes; bring-your-own takes an afternoon.

03

Move your life over

Ask Google or Apple for a copy of your data — they take a day or two to hand it over (that part's on them). Then drop the file in, and photos, files, calendars, contacts, even notes land in the right apps automatically. Your part takes an afternoon.

02 / What you get

Everything you rent from Big Tech — yours instead.

Bring your own · the cheaper, hands-on way

Know your way around a computer?

from $90 one-time

Put a pre-loaded drive into a computer you already have — the cheapest way in. You'll set it up yourself, so it helps to be comfortable under the hood. What you'll need:

  • A spare 64-bit PC that meets the minimum specs
  • A free SATA or NVMe slot (drives are 256GB–1TB)
  • A router you can set DNS & DHCP on — or your own Wi-Fi access point
  • Two network ports (dual LAN) if you want it as your router

Minimum specs: a 64-bit PC — an i5 or Intel N150 class is fine — with 16GB RAM recommended. A refurb Dell OptiPlex or ThinkCentre is the reference machine. Price = the drive + $50 to pre-load & support it. On newer machines, NVMe is faster and often the better value. Not sure which fits? We'll help you pick. SSD prices move with the market — we lock yours when you order.
04 / Free vs. the subscription

Free to keep. A subscription only if you want the easy life.

Free · no subscription required

Use it and own it

Everything works the day it's set up — no account with us, no monthly fee. This is yours.

  • Everything, on your home WiFi. Photos, files, passwords, movies — full speed, fully private, free forever.
  • Your own login for everything. Never “Sign in with Google” again — your family's accounts live on your box.
  • Reach it from away, if you're handy. You can switch on your own remote access for free with a free app (Tailscale) — it just takes a bit of fiddling.
  • Your hardware, your data. Walk away whenever you like; it keeps working.
Connected · $7/mo or $69/yr

We do the hard parts for you

Skip the fiddling. Connected turns on the bits that feel like magic — with no Big Tech logins anywhere.

  • Get to your stuff from anywhere, instantly. Same private login, now from any network — nothing to set up.
  • Your own web address to share & team up. Send a photo album or a file to anyone with a link — or give every family member their own page at yourname.logout.cloud.
  • It looks after itself. Updates and security fixes install on their own, so it stays fast and safe without you touching a thing.
  • Cancel anytime. Everything drops back to working at home, free.

05 / Why you'll want it

Big Tech rents you back your own life. This is yours.

01

You own it.

Stop paying Google and your storage freezes — over the limit you can't add a thing, and after two years they start deleting. Stop paying us and everything keeps running at home, for free. The subscription is a convenience, never a hostage situation.

02

It's private.

Your data lives in your house, on your hardware. We don't look at it, sell it, or train AI on it — our whole privacy policy is about 1,000 words, a 4-minute read.

03

It's cheaper.

iCloud and Google One 2TB plans run $100–130 a year, forever, and you own nothing. logout.cloud is a one-time drive or box, plus $69 a year only if you want Connected.

04

It works when they don't.

Everything runs on your home network. When your internet drops — or when Google has an outage — your photos, files, and passwords are still right there.

Fair questions
What if logout.cloud disappears?

Everything is open-source and runs in your house with no account at logout.cloud. If we vanished tomorrow, your box keeps working — you'd only lose the paid conveniences, and even those have free do-it-yourself routes.

What happens when I cancel?

Everything keeps working at home, free. You lose the remote reach, the public web address, and automatic updates — turn them back on whenever you like.

What if the drive dies?

Your stuff is stored as normal files in open formats — easy to copy to any external drive, and nothing about it is locked to us. Like any computer, pair it with a backup you check on.
